CORNELIA HERNES
Yearning is painted in the style of Classical Realism in Florence Italy. Yearning was mastered in the Realist style while studying at The Florence Academy of Art, where she further developed a deep affection for the genres of still life, interiors and nature motifs. Cornelia later taught in Sweden and New York and recently returned to her home Norway. Realism can be seen in most of the artist's paintings that are in collections around the world. She is holding a thistle in her hand- which symbolizes good fortune in the matters of the heart. This flower is actually a part of Scottish wedding bouquets. However, you can also see this eryngium thistle in a self portrait by Albrecht Dürer which he painted before his own marriage. It has a handmade Italian frame.
